The US Open upped their game yet again in 2022. Over the past two weeks, the sports world was delivered another amazing spectacle to sensational global applause. The tennis campus was electric both in-person and within the broadcasts. It is incredible to reflect on the fact that it’s been 25 years since the USTA officially dedicated Arthur Ashe Stadium. I could not be more proud of the design and planning efforts by our team at ROSSETTI in collaboration with the USTA team, from the initial stadium design through the innovative renovations and continued expansion of the event. We are exhilarated to be in lock step with the leadership team at the USTA to develop and redevelop their ongoing vision for the tournament’s future.

During the stadium’s opening and dedication in 1997, there were 38 former US Open Champions present, including Billie Jean King, Rod Laver, Martina Navratilova, Chris Evert, and John McEnroe, all joining in celebration with Arthur Ashe’s widow Jeanne Moutoussamy-Ashe. In reflection on the whole, this campus is so much more than sport. As a player, Arthur Ashe earned many history-making titles. But even more so, he was a champion for civil rights, social justice, health issues, and the future of our youth. He did it all with integrity, grace and class. All of which are embodied in the greatest tennis stadium in the world which proudly bears his name.

This year’s storylines were once again marvelous and the tennis was outstanding. Congratulations to all the competitors, especially those who understand what it means to be champions both on and off the court. Sports are the one unique in this world with the ability to engage and embrace everyone and tennis continues to make great strides in terms of its inclusion and diversity.
