Our vision for the 1.1-acre site is to activate the entire perimeter to engage the surrounding neighborhood and to create a new sense of identity at this important intersection, using Beaubien Street as a line of unification rather than separation as it has been perceived in the past. The concept offers 122 units within three distinct building typologies and four-unit types, introducing multiple experiences for residents and neighborhood users. This variety is crucial for the Brush Park neighborhood which is undergoing redevelopment on a large scale within a quick time period in order to ensure new development has the same level of craft, care, and richness as development in the neighborhood’s storied past.
Our proposal for Brush& Watson carefully considers the long-term viability of the neighborhood and promotes mixed-income housing, Detroit business owners, and inclusive design strategies that contribute to this vision for an engaged community.
