Atlanta Falcons Training Facility Reimagination

Rather than build a brand-new facility, the Atlanta Falcons decided to address their current and future needs through a renovation of the existing building, originally built in 2005. Through a partnership with ROSSETTI, the team explored alternate uses of their current space configurations to provide new layouts that would have a direct and positive impact on player performance. The original scope focused only on interior renovations, however expanded into adding 17,000 square feet of new space to the building in order to create better efficiencies for the team and focus on the holistic wellness of the players.

The selected areas of improvement identified by the team were the dining room, player locker room and the strength and conditioning room. In comparison to other NFL team facilities, the previous strength and conditioning room was too small and inefficient. The design solution relocated the strength and conditioning room to a new larger space on the East side of the building, which resulted in a two-story space, better fuel bar and direct connection to the outdoor fields with glass garage doors. The addition provided for phased construction, securing completion of the new strength and conditioning room before expanding the player locker room.

The expansion and renovations of the player locker room provide significant enhancements for the team as a whole. The new layout includes larger lockers and enough lockers to accommodate the training camp roster. Per request of the Falcons, the center of the locker room is open for team gatherings. Additional spaces include a new player lounge, improved wet areas, separate areas for coaches and staff and renovations to the equipment room. The dining room also gained additional space to allow for better food prep and back-of-house necessities. This created more space within the dining area to have a variation of seating, food prep action stations and unique offerings to promote health and wellness in a comfortable and social setting. All of the improvements at the facility come together aesthetically with a cohesive palette using elevated yet rugged materials. This enhanced experience and the integration of upgraded technology creates a lasting impact on player performance.
